The accelerator is a one-piece drive-by-wire unit without a separate pad, and the AU/NZ 2015 Liberty/Legacy range was CVT-only, so there’s no clutch pedal pad. The brake pedal pad’s whole job is grip. It’s a moulded rubber cover that sits over the metal brake pedal, adding a non-slip surface so shoes don’t skate off—especially in the wet, with sandy beach feet, or tradie boots. When it wears smooth, cracks, or shifts out of place, stopping distances can effectively increase because the driver can’t apply firm, consistent pressure.

As part of regular servicing on a 2015 Subaru Legacy/Liberty, it’s smart to inspect the brake pedal pad every service or 10,000–15,000 km. Keep it clean with mild soap and water—avoid silicone dressings or greasy cleaners, as they make the surface slippery.
