Why a battery box is important in a dual battery system

If you are mounting a second battery in your engine bay you may only require an additional battery tray to house this. However, if you are mounting the battery elsewhere then you will need to look at a battery box to securely mount this. Locating a battery outside of an engine bay in a battery box is a great way to keep the battery sealed against dust and dirt whilst also preventing spills or damage to the battery

Do I need a battery box for a deep cycle battery?

Whilst a deep cycle battery won't have the traditional lead acid composition of a standard battery it still needs to be kept safe and secure in your vehicle. The use of a battery box also keeps your battery level and terminals safe from the elements reducing the risk of corrosion or water ingress to the terminal connection.

A heavy duty battery box will allow you to mount connections to the exterior of the box removing the need to open or cut through the box itself providing greater protection to the battery and your terminals. Battery boxes can also be used with a battery isolator switch which will allow you to terminate the power to the box of the 12v system you are running and can be mounted in a convenient location away from the battery box itself if required.
