Popular Questions Asked

Choosing the right motorcycle battery to buy?

As is the case with both motorcycle batteries and car batteries each motorbike will require a suitable battery specific to the manufacturer recommendations. The easiest way to determine the correct battery is to reference your existing battery to what we have in stock.

The 3 determining factors in choosing the right battery for your bike are -

  • Cold Cranking Amps - This rating that determines a battery's ability to start an engine in cold temperatures and is a minimum recommendation.
  • Reserve Capacity - How long a new fully charged battery can hold its charge.
  • Amp Hour - A measure of how long a battery can provide amperage for one hour.

Does CCA matter for my motorcycle?

Having the power to crank your bike over is critical to starting, and naturally larger motorcycles require a higher CCA to get going. Scooters or a 125cc single cylinder bike may only need a 120 CCA battery to run whilst a large cruiser could be over 300 CCA which is of similar capacity to small car applications.

What is the most common motorcycle battery?

A lead-based battery, the most common motorcycle battery type, filled with acid that is Absorbed into a Fiber Glass Matt which is sandwiched between the lead plates. They are non-spillable and the most versatile of motorcycle battery types.

All motorbikes since 1980 are capable of running lithium iron phosphate batteries and these batteries are well worth the money as they are lighter, have a slower discharge rate, and perform better in cold temperatures.
