2003 Nissan Navara temperature sensors
Temperature sensors are absolutely fitted to the 2003 Nissan Navara and are central to how the ute runs and protects itself. This is documented in the Nissan Navara D22 Factory Service Manual (EC and AT sections), which details the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor, Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensing (often integrated in the MAF), and—on diesel models like the ZD30 with a Bosch VP44 pump—an internal fuel temperature sensor noted in Bosch’s VP44 technical literature. Automatic variants also monitor ATF temperature via a sensor in the transmission valve body. So yep, temperature sensors are very much relevant on a 2003 Navara.
What do they all do? In short, they tell the ECU and related systems how hot things are so the ute can fuel, idle and protect itself properly. Expect to find:
- Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT): Drives cold-start fuelling, fan control, gauge and, on diesels, glow timing.
- Intake Air Temperature (IAT): Adjusts fuelling and timing for air density
