A revolution in clutch design
UniClutch is a new company to the clutch industry though its founding roots have been in the industry for many years. These years of experience have spawned a revolutionary design that stays true to the original concept of a clutch but simplifies the installation and improves the product. You still have and use all the same old clutch products you are used to like a flywheel, clutch plate, pressure plate and thrust/release bearing.
If you understand clutches, this is all very familiar territory. The difference is the unique way UniClutch have packaged up these standard products, improved them and made them modular. Hopefully this has now sparked your interest to keep reading.
UniClutch's Solution
What UniClutch have done is brilliantly simple. They have created a module that is flywheel, clutch plate and pressure plate in one self contained unit. There is a separate mounting ring that holds this module. It bolts up to the original factory flywheel using the flywheels existing mounting bolt holes for the old style pressure plate. The mounting ring holds this module in place and you can use the original factory thrust bearing.
Because there is a flywheel in the module, the existing flywheel is no longer used to transmit engine power directly to the clutch plate. Engine power is transmitted via the flywheel through the mounting ring and into the modules internal flywheel. This engages with the modules clutch plate. Only the starter motor ring gear will wear out on the flywheel.
But wait, there is more....
The other clever innovation is there is no fixed centre splines in this UniClutch module. It has been made to be interchangeable so you can adapt various size gearbox input shafts into the module. Being interchangeable means you no longer need to hold a range of individual clutches. One mounting ring, a UniClutch module and a handful of centre splines can replace 4 or 5 individual clutch kits.
Is it going to be strong enough?
The UniClutch module is a twin disc, dual core clutch system. They are torque rated and come with a 5 year, 40,000km warranty so they are built tougher and stronger than the original OEM clutches. They are designed to last longer and the pedal effort is 50% lighter so they are easier to operate. With a patented radial dampening technology they are also 3 times quieter. As an added benefit it is also 50% more responsive for faster shifts.
Game Changer
UniClutch have a clutch industry game changer on their hands. The speed of installs, flexibility of mating different engines and gear boxes together, strength and reliability and ease of use are all blown out of the park.
They have the module in 2 types and 2 sizes in each type, details below:
UniClutch – Replacement clutch
195mm diameter - 750 Nm/550 Ft Lb
240mm diameter - 900 Nm/650 Ft Lb
UniClutch Sport - for the more adventurous driver.
195mm diameter - 875 Nm/650 Ft Lb
240mm diameter - 1100 Nm/800 Ft Lb
There are 21 x mounting ring kits with up to 7 interchangeable splines in each kit.
If you own a manual car, we strongly suggest investigating these clutches on Repco's website. They are well worth a look. While there, you can browse our range of spigot and release bearings and clutch fluids to help complete the job if needed.
