2021 Ford Everest throttle-position-sensor: what it does and how to look after it

It isn’t an old-school, stand‑alone TPS on a cable throttle, instead, the Everest’s electronic throttle body (diesel “throttle valve”/anti‑shudder valve) carries dual, redundant throttle‑position sensors, and the accelerator pedal has its own position sensors. So yes—TPS is relevant and fitted, just integrated into the throttle assembly.

On the 2.0‑litre Bi‑Turbo and the still‑common 3.2 TDCi, the TPS tracks the throttle plate angle so the powertrain control module can juggle airflow, EGR flow, idle quality, smooth shutdown and emissions.
