Common signs of a TPS/throttle body issue include a check engine light, limp mode, erratic idle, flat spots on acceleration, and DME faults for throttle-angle correlation (often seen as generic P0121–P0123 range/correlation codes). If replacement is needed, fit quality OE parts, renew the gasket, inspect the harness and connector for strain or corrosion, and perform throttle adaptation/reset with a proper scan tool (BMW ISTA or equivalent). After replacement or a flat battery, adaptation/teach-in ensures the DME knows the exact closed and wide-open positions, helping the X3 regain its smooth, crisp throttle feel.
