2019 Ford Mondeo camshaft sensor – purpose, servicing and replacement

Some variants have two sensors (intake and exhaust).

The camshaft sensor (often called the CMP) tracks the exact position and speed of the camshaft and works with the crankshaft sensor to keep the engine in sync.   4. Lightly oil the new O-ring, install the new OEM-quality sensor, and tighten the bolt to the workshop-manual spec.
  5. Clear codes and road test, most ECUs relearn automatically, though some tools offer a cam/crank relearn function.

A quality replacement sensor and a tidy harness usually restore normal running straight away. If faults persist, a deeper check of timing components, oil condition, and cam phasers is worthwhile.
