2018 Honda Accord thermostat housing — what it does and when to service it

On the 2018 Accord, the thermostat housing secures the thermostat, directs coolant flow from the engine to the radiator, and often hosts coolant sensors. Its job is to help the engine warm up quickly, then hold temperature steady under all sorts of driving — from city traffic to a country run — which keeps fuel economy tidy and emissions in check.
As these housings are commonly a composite/plastic assembly with moulded seals, time, heat cycles and coolant chemistry can make them brittle or cause the O-ring to flatten. A tired housing or thermostat can show up as slow warm-up, an overheating scare, a P0128 code, or a tell-tale drip under the bonnet near the lower radiator hose connection.

There’s no fixed kilometre interval for the housing itself, but it pays to inspect it at each coolant change and during routine services. Catching a weep early is far cheaper than dealing with an overheated motor later.
Where is the thermostat housing on a 2018 Honda Accord?

Do these housings crack, or is the thermostat the usual culprit?
