2018 Honda Accord oil pump — purpose, care and when to replace
Based on Honda’s technical literature, the 2018 Honda Accord is fitted with an engine oil pump. The Honda Service Manual for the 2018 Accord (Lubrication section: Oil Pump — Removal/Installation for L15B7 1.5T, K20C4 2.0T and the 2.0L hybrid engine) and the Honda Genuine Parts catalogue (listing an “Oil Pump Assembly” for these engines) both confirm its use. Modern Accord engines use a variable‑displacement pump to balance oil pressure with efficiency.
In the Accord, the oil pump pressurises and circulates engine oil so every moving bit under the bonnet gets fed: crank and rod bearings, cam journals and followers, timing components, and the turbocharger on the 1.5T and 2.0T. By modulating output, the variable pump trims parasitic drag at cruise and ramps up pressure when drivers give it a boot of throttle, helping reliability and fuel economy.
