During replacement, it’s smart practice to mark flange orientations, keep the shaft in phase, and use new hardware. After installation, a short road test to confirm no vibration, followed by a recheck of fasteners, keeps things tidy.
There’s no scheduled maintenance beyond inspection, but proactive checks every service or two (say 15,000–30,000 km) are cheap insurance. If a vibration is getting worse, park it and book it—driving on a failing U‑joint can damage the tailshaft, centre bearing or diff flange.
