2015 Honda Accord clutch-kit: is it relevant for AU/NZ models?
For Australian and New Zealand market 2015 Honda Accord sedans, a traditional clutch-kit isn’t used. Technical references including the Honda Australia 2015 Accord brochure and owner’s manual, Honda New Zealand specification sheets, and the Honda Electronic Parts Catalogue for the 9th‑generation Accord all show the local cars were fitted with either a 2.4‑litre engine paired to a CVT or a 3.5‑litre V6 paired to a 6‑speed automatic. No manual transmission was offered new in AU/NZ for the 2015 Accord sedan, so there’s no clutch disc, pressure plate or release bearing to replace as a set.
Because these Accords are automatic or CVT, they use a torque converter and a flexplate rather than a manual friction clutch assembly. That’s why a clutch-kit isn’t applicable on this vehicle in the local market. Routine servicing focuses on the transmission fluid rather than clutch wear. Honda’s service information specifies Honda HCF‑2 fluid for the CVT and Honda ATF‑DW1 for the 6‑speed auto, along with scheduled fluid changes based on time, kilometres, and driving conditions. If someone’s looking at a “clutch” because of shudder, flare or slip, the proper path on these cars is inspection of fluid condition and level, software updates, and mechanical checks of the CVT or automatic—rather than a clutch replacement.
Worth noting: some overseas 2015 Accord variants (and the separate Accord Euro model line in earlier years) did offer a 6‑speed manual, which does use a clutch-kit. That setup doesn’t apply to the mainstream 2015 Accord sold new in Australia and New Zealand, and parts listings for local VINs won’t show a clutch kit.
- Key maintenance instead of “clutch service”:
- CVT: Replace HCF‑2 fluid at the intervals in the owner’s manual (often sooner under heavy or urban use).
- 6AT: Replace ATF‑DW1 per schedule
