2015 Ford Transit throttle-position-sensors — what’s fitted and how to look after them

Based on Ford Workshop Manual coverage for the 3.7L Ti-VCT, 3.5L EcoBoost petrol, and 3.2L Duratorq diesel engines, plus OE parts cataloguing and common service data (Motorcraft/ETIS, Mitchell1/ALLDATA), the 2015 Ford Transit does use throttle-position sensing. It’s built into the electronic throttle body as dual, redundant sensors, it’s not a separate, bolt-on sensor. On diesels, the intake throttle (used for EGR and smooth shutdown) also carries an internal position sensor. So throttle-position-sensors are absolutely relevant on a 2015 Ford Transit, but they’re serviced by replacing the throttle body assembly rather than the sensor alone.

The throttle-position-sensors tell the PCM the exact angle of the throttle plate so it can match airflow to the driver’s pedal input, manage idle speed, stabilise the engine under load, and keep emissions tidy.
