2014 Toyota HiLux temperature sensors – what they do, and how to look after them

Based on Toyota’s service literature for the 2014 HiLux (N70 series) — including the Repair Manual (Engine Control and Emission Control sections), the Electrical Wiring Diagram (EWD), and Denso specifications for ECT/IAT senders — this ute absolutely uses multiple temperature sensors. These include the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor, intake air temperature (IAT) sensor, ambient air temperature sensor (for A/C and display), transmission fluid temperature sensor (on autos), and exhaust gas temperature (EGT) sensors on DPF‑equipped diesels.
