2013 Daihatsu Bego fuel injectors: what they do and how to look after them

Per the Daihatsu Terios/Bego J200/J210 Series Service Manual (Engine Control – EFI, 3SZ‑VE), the Toyota Rush J200E Repair Manual, and DENSO system descriptions for the 3SZ‑VE, the 2013 Daihatsu Bego runs a 1.5‑litre 3SZ‑VE petrol engine with sequential multi‑port electronic fuel injection. That means fuel injectors are absolutely fitted and relevant to this model.

On this Bego, the injectors meter precise amounts of petrol into each cylinder right at the intake ports. The ECU times and sizes each injection pulse to match load, temperature, throttle and airflow. The result is smooth idle, decent torque around town, lower emissions and better fuel economy compared with old-school carb setups.

As part of regular servicing, it’s smart to think about the injectors once the odometer climbs or if the car sees lots of short trips. While there’s no fixed replacement interval, well‑kept injectors often run beyond 150,000 km. If performance drops, the engine misfires, fuel economy worsens, or there’s a rough idle or hard starting, the workshop should scan for fault codes, check fuel pressure, do an injector balance/leakdown test, and examine the spray pattern. Ultrasonic cleaning on a bench can often restore a lazy injector
