2012 Toyota Corolla Fielder receiver-drier: what it does and when to replace

In this model, the receiver–drier’s job is threefold: it traps moisture, filters fine debris, and provides a small liquid refrigerant buffer on the high side before the TXV. Moisture is the big enemy, it reacts with refrigerant and oil to form acids and ice, which can corrode parts and choke the expansion valve. Because Toyota integrates the desiccant into the condenser, there’s no big silver canister to spot—just a service plug on the condenser tank and, depending on parts supply, a replaceable desiccant bag.
