2012 Ford Transit knock sensor: is it there, and does it matter?

For Australian and New Zealand–delivered 2012 Ford Transit (VM) models fitted with the Duratorq TDCi diesel engines (commonly 2.2L and 2.4L), a traditional knock sensor is not used.
