2012 Daihatsu Bego knock sensor: what it does and when to replace it

Based on technical literature for the J200/J210-series Daihatsu Be-go/Terios with the 3SZ-VE 1.5-litre engine, the 2012 Daihatsu Bego is fitted with a knock sensor. On the 2012 Bego, the knock sensor is there to protect the engine and keep it running sweet as. It listens for detonation (knock) in the cylinders and tells the ECU to tweak ignition timing if it hears anything dodgy. Clear any stored DTCs and take it for a gentle drive so the ECU can relearn. Also, stick with the recommended fuel octane for the Bego, that gives the knock control system the best chance to do its job without constantly pulling timing.
