2011 Ford Kuga pedal pads — what they do and when to replace them

On a 2011 Kuga, the pedal pads are the grippy rubber covers the driver’s shoes contact. Their job is simple but critical: provide traction in the wet, buffer vibration, and protect the metal pedal plates from wear. Over time the rubber hardens, goes shiny, cracks, or the edges roll back, all of which can make the pedal slippery. Use the floor-mat retention hooks so mats can’t ride up under the pedals.
The accelerator on the 2011 Kuga is a one-piece module, if the treaded surface is damaged or slick beyond cleaning, the fix is to replace the pedal module as an assembly. Otherwise, a scrub with mild detergent to lift road film is usually all it needs.
