2008 Ford Mondeo MAP sensor: what it does, where it is, and how to keep it happy

Where fitted, the MAP sensor measures absolute pressure in the manifold or charge pipe so the ECU knows real engine load. When the reading is wrong, the Mondeo can feel flat, surge, smoke, or drop into limp mode.

Good servicing practice on a 2008 Mondeo that has a MAP sensor is simple. Every service (or about every 15,000 km), pop the bonnet and check the sensor body and connector for oil mist and corrosion.
