2007 Nissan Dualis (J10) Temperature Sensors — Purpose, Care, and When to Replace
Temperature sensors are absolutely fitted and relevant on the 2007 Nissan Dualis (J10). Technical references include the Nissan J10 Factory Service Manual (2007): EC section (Engine Coolant Temperature sensor and Intake Air Temperature within the MAF), HAC section (ambient and evaporator temperature sensors for climate control), MWI section (outside temperature to the combination meter), and TM section (CVT fluid temperature monitoring by the transmission control module). These sources confirm multiple temperature inputs are used throughout the vehicle’s engine, transmission, and climate systems.
On a Dualis, temperature sensors help the car warm up cleanly, manage fuelling and ignition timing, switch radiator fans on at the right moment, protect the CVT from heat, and keep the air-con working sweet as. The engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor is the big one for drivability, while intake air temperature (IAT) is built into the MAF to fine-tune air-fuel mix. The HVAC relies on ambient and evaporator sensors, and the TCM tracks CVT fluid temp to avoid overheating.
They’re not usually a routine replacement item, but they do deserve checks during servicing. A quick scan of live data tells the story:
- Cold start: ECT and IAT should read close to outside ambient.
- At operating temp: ECT typically stabilises around normal operating range
