2006 Nissan Pulsar Driveshafts

Driveshafts are absolutely relevant on the 2006 Nissan Pulsar. Nissan’s own technical literature—specifically the Pulsar N16/Bluebird Sylphy (G10) factory service manuals and, for equivalent 2006-market cars, the Tiida/Latio C11 manuals—detail left and right front drive shafts with constant velocity (CV) joints as part of the front-wheel-drive transaxle. There’s no rear prop shaft because it’s not rear- or all-wheel drive, but the front CV axle shafts are very much fitted and essential.

On a 2006 Pulsar, the driveshafts (often called CV shafts or half-shafts) take engine torque from the transaxle and deliver it to the front wheels while allowing for up-and-down suspension travel and steering angle. The inner joints handle plunge and the outer joints manage steering angle, with rubber boots keeping special grease where it belongs. Without healthy shafts and boots, the car can’t put power down smoothly.

As part of routine servicing, it’s smart for owners to have the CV boots and shafts checked every service interval or two—especially if the car sees lots of city turns or rough roads. Torn boots quickly fling grease and invite water and grit, which chew out the joint. Catching a split boot early often means a simple boot kit and fresh grease
