2006 Honda Civic pedal pads: what they do and when to replace them

Pedal pads are used on the 2006 Honda Civic. Honda’s factory service information and dealer parts catalogues for the 8th‑generation Civic list a replaceable rubber pad for the brake pedal on all models and a separate clutch pedal pad on manual variants. The accelerator pedal is typically a moulded plastic/metal tread without a removable rubber pad. So, for a 2006 Civic, “pedal pads” are relevant to the brake (and clutch, if manual) and are treated as wear items.

These little rubber covers do a big job: they provide grip and a consistent pedal feel, especially in wet boots-and-brolly weather across Australia and New Zealand. As the pads harden or wear smooth, foot slip risk goes up and pedal feel can get a bit vague. Keeping them fresh keeps braking and clutch modulation predictable.

Replacement is straightforward and inexpensive. Genuine and quality aftermarket pads are designed to stretch over the pedal plate and lock into place. If the Civic is an auto, it’ll have one pad to think about (brake). If it’s a manual, there are two (brake and clutch). The accelerator generally doesn’t take a rubber pad on this model.
