2005 Honda Elysion manifold gasket — what it does and when to replace it

Based on Honda’s technical literature and parts catalogues for the RR1–RR4 Elysion (2004–2006), a manifold gasket is absolutely used on the 2005 Honda Elysion. The factory Service Manual engine section covers both intake and exhaust manifold removal/refit and specifies “always use a new gasket,” while the Honda Electronic Parts Catalogue lists dedicated intake manifold gaskets and exhaust manifold gaskets for the K24A four-cylinder and J-series V6 variants. That makes the manifold gasket relevant hardware on every 2005 Elysion, whether it’s the 2.4 i-VTEC or the V6.

On this model, the manifold gasket’s job is simple but critical: it seals the joint between the manifold and the cylinder head. Up top, the intake manifold gasket keeps unmetered air from sneaking in so the engine gets the right air–fuel mix. Down below, the exhaust manifold gasket keeps hot gases from escaping before they reach the catalytic converter, helping emissions, fuel economy, and cabin comfort. A crook gasket can cause rough idle, a check-engine light, sooty smells, or that tell-tale ticking on cold start.
