2005 Ford Falcon pedal pads — what they do and when to replace them

Pedal pads absolutely are used on the 2005 Ford Falcon. Ford’s BA/BF Falcon Workshop Manual and the Ford Microcat electronic parts catalogue specify removable rubber pads on the brake pedal (auto and manual) and on the clutch pedal (manual). Accelerator pedals on these models are a moulded assembly without a separate rubber pad. Aftermarket catalogues used across AU/NZ (e.g., common listings for BA/BF Falcon brake and clutch pedal rubbers) back this up, so they’re a relevant service item.

On a 2005 Falcon, the pedal pads are simply the rubber covers that slip over the metal pedal arms. Their job is dead simple but critical: grip. The rubber tread gives the driver confident, slip-free control of the brake and clutch, especially in wet boots or on a muddy worksite. They also cushion the foot and help meet safety and roadworthy expectations in Australia and New Zealand.

As part of routine servicing, it’s worth checking pedal pads for hardening, glazing, cracking, or chunks missing. If the surface has gone shiny and slippery, or the edges are torn and the pad no longer hugs the metal plate, it’s time to swap them. A badly worn pad can lead to a WOF or roadworthy fail, and more importantly, a moment of lost grip when braking.

Replacement is quick backyard stuff and doesn’t need special tools:

  1. Peel the old pad off the pedal plate, starting at one corner.
  2. Clean the bare pedal with mild detergent
