2004 Toyota Wish power-steering hose: which models use it, and how to look after it

The 1.8-litre ZNE10/ZNE14 variants commonly run column-assist Electric Power Steering (EPS), so there’s no hydraulic power-steering hose on those cars. The 2.0-litre ANE10/ANE11 variants use a conventional hydraulic power steering pump and rack, which do have a high-pressure hose and a return hose. If the model code on the build plate starts with ANE (2.0L), a power-steering hose is relevant, if it starts with ZNE (1.8L EPS), it isn’t fitted because there’s no hydraulic circuit to plumb.

For ANE10/ANE11 owners, the power-steering hose does the heavy lifting—literally. The high-pressure line carries fluid from the engine-driven pump to the rack at serious pressure, helping the Wish steer smoothly at parking speeds and stay consistent on the open road. The return hose takes fluid back to the reservoir, keeping the system cooled and circulating.
