2004 Ford Transit spark plugs — are they actually used?
Short answer: for most 2004 Ford Transits sold in Australia and New Zealand, spark plugs aren’t a thing. Why’s that? A diesel engine ignites fuel by squeezing air so hard it gets hot enough to fire the injected diesel—no external spark is needed. So on a typical 2004 Transit diesel, there’s nothing called a “spark plug” to replace during servicing.
There was a petrol option (the 2.3 Duratec four-cylinder) in some markets. That engine does use spark plugs. However, it’s relatively uncommon in AU/NZ fleets compared with the Duratorq diesels.
