2002 Daihatsu Terios Headlights — Purpose, Care, and When to Replace
Headlights are absolutely fitted and required on the 2002 Daihatsu Terios. Technical references such as the Daihatsu Terios J1 (1997–2005) owner’s manual and workshop manual specify halogen headlamps, typically using an H4 dual‑filament bulb for low and high beam. Regulatory frameworks like Australia’s ADR 13/00 and ADR 46/00, and NZTA WoF requirements, also mandate compliant, functioning headlamps for on-road use.
On a 2002 Terios, the headlights do the heavy lifting for safe night and low‑visibility driving, projecting a dipped beam to avoid dazzling others and a high beam for open-road visibility. Most AU/NZ‑delivered Terios models use an H4 60/55W halogen bulb in a reflector housing, with a small wedge globe for the park light. That setup is simple, reliable, and easy to service in the driveway.
Replacement is straightforward under the bonnet. It’s best practice to replace bulbs in pairs so light colour and brightness match side to side. Avoid touching the new halogen glass with bare fingers
