Rear brakes vary by trim: many Futura, Fairmont and XR variants use rear disc rotors, while base GLi models may have rear drums. So, regardless of rear setup, every 1996 Falcon runs front brake rotors (discs) as a core part of its stopping power.
On a ’96 Falcon, the rotors work with the calipers and pads to turn forward motion into heat and slow the car safely. Front rotors are ventilated to shed heat quickly, helping resist fade on long downhill runs or repeated stops. If the vehicle has rear discs, those rotors balance the braking effort and improve stability, especially with ABS-equipped models.
