1986 Suzuki Jimny receiver–drier: what it does and when to replace it
On a 1986 Suzuki Jimny that’s fitted with factory or dealer-installed air conditioning, a receiver–drier is absolutely part of the system. In the Jimny’s TXV setup, the receiver–drier sits in the liquid line after the condenser, typically under the bonnet ahead of the radiator support. Its job is threefold: store liquid refrigerant, remove moisture via a desiccant pack, and filter out fine debris. Because moisture and debris are the enemies of a TXV and compressor, keeping the drier healthy is a must if the air‑con is expected to blow cold on summer arvos.
