Thermos - Keeping it Cold or Hot
A thermos is a container with a vacuum between the inner and outer walls that acts as an insulation barrier to the outside air. This helps keep whatever you put in the thermos, either hot or cold longer than if it was exposed to the open air. The Thermos brand creates exactly that, food and drink containers that help keep their contents hot or cold
Thermos Flask
The most famous of all the Thermos products and a design that has been virtually unchanged for years. A stainless steel bottle with a screw cap lid. The large outer lid doubles as a drinking cup. Great for the outdoors as being stainless steel it can handle a bump or two.
A neat trick is preheating (add hot water) or cooling it (add cold water with ice cubes) before using it. Tip it out before adding your contents as it then keeps the temperature for longer.
Thermos have created a larger, wider food container made the same way as the flask. Being insulated, the container is at the outside air temperature even if the food inside it is piping hot. There is also a handy sized travel mug, which suits people driving long distances to work. It too uses the flask technology and is solidly built.
Cooler bags are the next thing Thermos have invested in and they make a range of varying sizes. No, they are not stainless steel rather a softer fabric outer with insulation and a PEVA heat sealed lining.
Next time you want to keep food and drink hot or cold look at the Thermos product range, it is well worth it.
