Jack Brabham was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE), an honour recognising significant achievement and services to motorsport. That same year, he also won the Constructors' Championship with his Brabham team, becoming the first driver to claim both a Drivers' and Constructors' title in his own car. Later, in 1980, he was appointed Officer of the order of Australia (AO).
