When replacing worn out brake pads or brake shoes it is alawys important to check brake rotors and drums. Things to look for are abnormal scouring on the friction surfaces, check tolerances to make sure they are still in spec and look for warped rotors or drums. Scouring on friction surfaces can be cured by machining the rotor or drum. If it is too deep, replace them. Most manufacturers have the tolerance listings for brake rotors or drums. This is the size they need to be for the brakes to work effectively. If under, they need to be replaced. For a warped rotor or drum - check the tolerances with the manufacturer, too far out of spec and they need to be replaced. The brake rotors and drums are laboratory and road tested to ensure they meet a high standard. This makes sure the fit and performance matches or exceeds OE. All this is done to make sure TRW products are fit for purpose for your next brake service.
