Being a lot cheaper to rebuild than replace, brake calipers can be rebuilt by any competant home mechanic with the right tools. Before starting always ensure you have sufficient degreaser or brake cleaner on hand to clean the component being removed. You may even want to do this while it is still on the vehicle as they are subject to a lot of dirt and dust. You will also need to use new brake fluid to refill the system once the job is complete. It is important you get the correct type of fluid that suits your vehicle. A lot of these systems will also need to be bled after the work is completed as hydraulic systems require all air to be bled from them. Bleeding removes this air and there are simple brake bleeding tools and methods you can use to achieve this.

To fix disc brake calipers requires the removal of the wheels. This involves jacking up the car and putting it on axle stands for safety. Any work underneath a vehicle is dirty and the use of disposable gloves and safety glasses is a good idea. When working with brake dust a face mask or respirator stops you breathing it in.

Whilst conducting work or repairs on your vehicle it is always a good idea to check for wear and tear on other components and see if anything else needs to be repaired or replaced.

When it comes to keeping you safe on the road Repco have not just the best in brake calipers and components but the specialist brake caliper tools and brake fluids to make it happen.
