2021 Ford Ranger pedal pads — what they are and when to replace them
Pedal pads are indeed fitted to the 2021 Ford Ranger. Ford’s service literature and parts catalogues for the PX MkIII/MY21 Ranger list a replaceable rubber pad on the brake pedal (and on the clutch pedal for manual models). The accelerator uses an integrated moulded plastic face and isn’t a separate pad. That means there’s a genuine service item here worth checking at routine intervals.
On this ute, pedal pads are the grippy rubber covers that slip over the bare metal pedal. Their job is simple but critical: deliver secure foot traction in all conditions—wet boots, sandy thongs, muddy work shoes—so braking and clutch modulation remain predictable. Over time, rubber hardens and wears smooth, especially on vehicles that see plenty of site work or off‑road touring. When the surface goes glossy or the edges curl, foot slip risk goes up, particularly in the wet.
As part of servicing, it’s smart to inspect pedal pads every service interval (or about every 10,000–15,000 km). Look for: surface smoothness, cracks, hardened rubber, missing chunks, and any looseness on the metal pedal. Automatic Rangers will have a single brake pedal pad
