2021 Ford Everest pedal pads: what they are and how to look after them

Based on Ford’s workshop literature for the UA II Everest platform (2019–2022) and listings in Ford’s Global/“Microcat” parts catalogue, the 2021 Ford Everest is fitted with a replaceable rubber brake pedal pad. The accelerator uses an integrated tread surface as part of the electronic pedal assembly, and there’s no clutch pedal on 2021 Australian and New Zealand models (auto only). So, “pedal pads” on this model specifically refers to the brake pedal pad.

The brake pedal pad does a simple but vital job: it gives the driver a grippy, cushioned contact patch for confident braking, especially in the wet. Over time the rubber can harden, glaze, crack or wear smooth, which can make a boot slip more easily and bump up stopping distance. Keeping the brake pedal pad in good nick is an easy win for safety and comfort in a 2021 Everest.

As part of routine servicing (every 12 months or 15,000 km, whichever comes first), the pad should be inspected for shine, cracking, missing chunks, or any movement on the pedal plate. If it’s glossy-smooth, hardened, or the edges are splitting, it’s time to swap it out. It’s a quick, low-cost job: the old pad pulls off the metal pedal plate, and a new genuine or quality aftermarket pad stretches over the lip until it seats evenly all the way around.

A few handy tips the workshop team uses:

  • Keep the pad clean with mild soap and water
