2020 BMW X3 EGR valve — what it is, whether it’s fitted, and how to look after it

Based on BMW technical literature (BMW Group TIS/ISTA workshop information), the BMW parts catalogue (ETK) and widely used parts diagrams for the G01 X3, an electronically controlled EGR valve and cooler are fitted to the 2020 BMW X3 diesel variants (e.g., xDrive20d with the B47 engine and xDrive30d with the B57 engine). BMW service bulletins and campaigns in 2018–2020 also reference EGR-cooler inspections on these diesel engines. For 2020 X3 petrol variants (e.g., 20i/30i B48 and M40i B58), a separate, serviceable EGR valve is not used
