2020 Audi Q5 oil pump — what it does and when to service it

Yes, the 2020 Audi Q5 absolutely uses an engine oil pump. Audi’s ElsaPro workshop manual for the MY2020 Q5 (Lubrication system), the ETKA parts catalogue, and Audi Self‑Study Programmes for the EA888 Gen.3/3B petrol and V6 TDI engines describe a chain-driven, map‑controlled, variable‑displacement oil pump mounted with the balance shaft module. Those technical sources confirm it’s a core component on both 2.0 TFSI and V6 variants, including SQ5.

What does it do? The oil pump feeds pressurised oil to bearings, camshafts, the turbocharger and timing components, keeping friction down and heat under control. On the Q5’s engines it’s a regulated (variable) pump, which trims oil pressure based on load and revs to reduce drag and improve fuel economy without starving the engine under hard driving.

There’s no scheduled replacement interval for the pump itself
