2019 Toyota C-HR Headlights
Headlights are absolutely fitted and required on the 2019 Toyota C-HR. This is confirmed by the Toyota Owner’s Manual (2019 C-HR, Lighting section), Toyota Repair Manual for ZYX10/NGX10 platforms, and compliance with Australian Design Rules (ADR 13/00 and 46/00) and NZTA WOF lighting requirements, all of which specify functioning headlamps for road use.
The C-HR’s headlights do the heavy lifting after dark: they light the road, help others see the vehicle, and support features like high beam and, on some grades, Automatic High Beam. Depending on trim, Aussie and Kiwi models came with either halogen projector headlamps or full LED units. Halogen lamps use replaceable bulbs, while the LED versions use sealed light modules designed for long life with crisp, white output.
As part of regular servicing of the 2019 Toyota C-HR headlights, it’s worth checking brightness, beam aim, lens condition, and that both low and high beams fire up cleanly. Halogen bulbs slowly dim and yellow with age, so replacing them in pairs keeps the beam even left-to-right. For many halogen-equipped C-HR models, the low/high beam is a single HIR2 (9012) bulb—gloves on, don’t touch the glass, and ensure the rubber cap seals properly to keep moisture out.
LED headlight grades generally aren’t user-serviceable at bulb level. If an LED unit goes dim or fails, the usual remedy is replacing the lamp assembly or LED driver module. That job can involve removing the bumper and then recalibrating auto-levelling or high-beam systems, so it’s best left to a workshop with the right scan tools.
Keeping the lenses clear matters too. Wash with car shampoo, not harsh solvents, and consider UV-protective polish if there’s early hazing. If there’s persistent condensation inside a housing, have the seals checked to prevent internal corrosion. After any front-end repair, suspension change, or a good whack to a kerb, get the headlight aim checked so the beam meets ADR/NZ WOF specs and doesn’t dazzle oncoming traffic.
