On the Splash, the headlight bulbs handle both low and high beam duties and are the front line of safe night driving. They help the car meet ADR lighting requirements and keep glare down for oncoming traffic. Because halogen capsules slowly lose output with age, it’s smart to treat bulbs as routine service items rather than waiting for a failure.
For maintenance, the workshop-friendly approach is to replace headlight bulbs in pairs every 3–5 years or when one fails, to keep colour and brightness matched. Stick with the specified H4 12V 60/55W rating. Premium road-legal halogens that offer higher lumen output are fine, but steer clear of over‑wattage off‑road bulbs that can cook wiring and housings.
