2019 Ford Kuga Engine Mount: Purpose, Care, and When to Replace
Engine mounts are absolutely fitted to the 2019 Ford Kuga. Ford’s service literature for the C520-platform Kuga/Escape (2017–2019) details multiple mounts: a right-hand hydraulic engine mount, a left-hand transmission mount, and a lower torque/“dog-bone” mount. An engine mount’s job is twofold: hold the engine and transmission securely in the bay, and isolate vibration so the cabin stays quiet and comfortable. The hydraulic (fluid-filled) mount on the right side does most of the fine vibration damping, while the lower torque mount controls fore–aft movement when taking off, changing gears, or lifting off the throttle. When they’re healthy, the Kuga feels smooth, the steering wheel stays calm at idle, and there’s no thump when shifting or accelerating.
Mounts aren’t a scheduled service item, but they are wear-and-tear. Heat, oil contamination, and rough roads gradually break down the rubber and, on hydraulic mounts, can cause fluid leaks. Most owners start noticing extra vibration at idle, a shimmy through the seats, or a clunk on take-off when a mount is on the way out.

Many Ford fasteners are torque-to-yield—replace any one-time-use bolts as directed in the manual. After new mounts go in, expect a noticeable lift in refinement. If vibration remains, it’s worth checking for other NVH sources like exhaust contact, worn driveshafts, or a rough idle tune.
How long do engine mounts last on a 2019 Ford Kuga?
There’s no fixed interval, but many Kugas see 100,000–160,000 kilometres before noticeable wear, depending on driving, climate, and oil leak history. City stop–start and hot conditions tend to shorten lifespan.

What are common symptoms of a failing engine mount?
Expect more vibration at idle, a thud when shifting between Drive and Reverse, judder on take-off, and sometimes a buzzing through the steering wheel. You might also spot cracked rubber or fluid seeping from the hydraulic mount.
If the lower torque mount is worn, the engine can rock excessively, making gear changes feel harsh and adding noise on acceleration and over bumps.
Is it okay to keep driving with a bad mount?
Short term, the car will usually still drive, but comfort suffers and other parts can cop extra stress—exhaust flex joints, driveshafts, and even the remaining mounts. A severely failed mount can allow metal-to-metal contact and damage.
Best bet is to book it in soon. If you’re getting loud knocks or can see a mount collapsed or leaking, treat it as a priority repair.
