2017 Toyota RAV4 head gasket – what it does and how to look after it

On the 2017 RAV4, the head gasket sits between the aluminium cylinder head and the engine block, sealing three critical things at once: high-pressure combustion, coolant flow, and engine oil passages. It’s a multi-layer steel (MLS) gasket designed to handle big temperature swings and the clamping force from torque-to-yield head bolts.
