2017 Mitsubishi Outlander Headlights
Headlights are absolutely relevant and factory-fitted on the 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander. This is supported by Mitsubishi’s 2017 Outlander Owner’s Manual and service information, and by Australian Design Rules and New Zealand Warrant of Fitness lighting requirements that mandate compliant dipped and high beams for road use. Depending on trim and market, this Outlander came with halogen projector headlamps on most grades and LED headlamps on higher-spec variants, all with integrated daytime running lamps.
For this model, the headlights serve two key jobs: seeing and being seen. On unlit rural roads or during changeable weather, a properly aimed low beam gives clear, even spread without dazzling oncoming traffic, while high beam throws light further down the road to spot hazards early. The units are shaped to complement the Outlander’s front-end styling and include indicators and DRLs to boost visibility in busy city traffic.
As part of regular servicing, the headlights deserve a quick once-over. Lenses can haze from UV exposure, reducing brightness. A light polish or a proper restoration can bring clarity back, but if the lens is cracked or there’s moisture inside, replacement of the affected unit is the smart move. Bulb life varies: halogen bulbs gradually dim before they fail, while LED modules usually last far longer but are not typically user-serviceable and may require replacing the headlamp assembly if they fail.
- Check operation of low beam, high beam, indicators and DRLs every few weeks, especially before long trips.
- Confirm beam aim after front suspension work, a minor nose-to-tail, or when a headlamp assembly has been replaced.
- When replacing halogen bulbs, match the original spec, avoid touching the glass, and replace in pairs for even brightness.
- Inspect fuses and connectors if a light is out
