2017 Ford Focus clutch-kit — fitment, purpose, and service advice
Based on technical sources such as the 2017 Ford Focus Owner’s Manual and Ford Workshop Manual, plus Getrag/PowerShift (6DCT250/DPS6) service information and industry bulletins, a clutch-kit is relevant on 2017 Focus models fitted with a manual transmission (they use a dry, single-plate clutch). PowerShift-equipped cars use a dual dry-clutch module rather than a conventional “clutch-kit”. Where a conventional torque-converter automatic is fitted in some regions, there is no clutch-kit at all.
For manual 2017 Focus models, a clutch-kit bundles the friction disc, pressure plate, and release bearing (often the concentric slave cylinder), and is designed to restore smooth engagement, reduce slip, and keep pedal feel consistent. Many variants also run a dual-mass flywheel (DMF), so checking the flywheel for heat spots and excess play is part of a proper job. The kit’s aim is simple: crisp take-up, clean gear changes, and dependable torque transfer without shudder or chatter.
There’s no fixed kilometre interval for clutch replacement
