2016 Lexus IS batteries: what they do and how to look after them
Based on technical sources such as the 2016 Lexus IS Owner’s Manual and Lexus workshop literature, batteries are absolutely relevant to this model range. Every 2016 Lexus IS runs a 12‑volt battery for starting and vehicle electronics, and the IS 300h hybrid also carries a separate high‑voltage traction battery pack for propulsion.
For the petrol IS (200t/300/350), the 12‑volt battery under the bonnet cranks the engine and stabilises voltage for lights, infotainment, safety systems and driver aids. In the IS 300h, the 12‑volt battery (mounted in the boot) wakes up the ECUs and closes the hybrid system relays
