2016 Ford Fiesta radiator — what it does and how to look after it
Per Ford’s own technical literature — the 2016 Fiesta Owner’s Manual and the Ford Workshop Manual (section 303-03, Engine Cooling) — this model runs a pressurised liquid-cooling system with an aluminium crossflow radiator, electric cooling fan, thermostat, and a degas (expansion) bottle. Haynes service guides for the 2008–2017 Fiesta platform say the same. So yes, a radiator is absolutely fitted and relevant on any 2016 Ford Fiesta, whether it’s the 1.0 EcoBoost, petrol Duratec, or TDCi diesel.
The radiator’s job is simple but vital: it sheds engine heat. Coolant absorbs heat in the block and head, runs through the radiator’s thin tubes and fins, and dumps that heat to the passing air, with the fan kicking in when needed. Keep the radiator healthy and the Fiesta stays happy, even in an Aussie summer or on a long Kiwi hill climb.
For everyday servicing, a few sensible checks go a long way. Under the bonnet, look for clean fins and dry joints
