2014 Subaru Outback EGR valve: what’s fitted, what’s not, and how to look after it

For the 2014 Subaru Outback, whether an EGR valve is relevant depends on the engine. Technical sources show the petrol models (FB25 2.5-litre four and EZ36 3.6-litre six) do not use an external EGR valve, while the 2.0D turbo-diesel (EE20) is fitted with a cooled EGR system. This split applies to Australia and New Zealand market vehicles.
