2014 Nissan Pathfinder pedal pads — fitment, purpose and service tips
Pedal pads are fitted to the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder (R52). Nissan’s 2014 Pathfinder Electronic Service Manual (ESM) brake pedal section and the Nissan FAST parts catalogue both show a replaceable rubber pad on the service brake pedal, and on models equipped with a foot‑operated parking brake, a separate parking brake pedal pad. The accelerator in this model uses an integral plastic tread as part of the pedal assembly rather than a separate rubber pad, so only the brake (and, where fitted, the park brake) have replaceable pads.
The purpose of these pads is simple but important: they provide reliable grip underfoot, reduce slipperiness in the wet, dampen vibration, and make long drives more comfortable. That textured rubber face helps keep boots planted on the pedal, especially after hopping in with a bit of rain or beach sand about — a common reality across Australia and New Zealand.
As part of routine servicing, it’s smart to inspect the brake pedal pad at each service or roughly every 10,000 km. Replace it if the surface is shiny or smooth, if the rubber is cracked or hardened, or if the pad feels loose on the pedal plate. A fresh pad restores grip and improves pedal feel. Use a genuine or quality aftermarket pad that matches the R52 brake pedal plate. Replacement is straightforward: the old pad is levered off the metal plate, and the new one is pressed on starting from one edge and working around the lip until fully seated.
Many 2014 Pathfinders here also feature a foot‑operated parking brake
