Whether a 2014 Holden Astra has an EGR valve depends on the engine. Technical references including GM Global Service Information (GSI/TIS2Web) for the Astra J, the Holden/Opel Electronic Parts Catalogue (EPC), and Bosch/Delphi diesel management documentation show that the common petrol Astra J engines of the era (1.4T A14NET and 1.6T A16-series) do not use an external EGR valve, while the diesel variants (1.7 CDTi A17-series and 2.0 CDTi A20DTH in some GTC/VXR trims) are fitted with an electronically controlled EGR valve and cooler to meet Euro 5 emissions.
