2013 Honda CR‑V Oil Pump — What It Does and When to Service It
Technical sources, including the Honda CR‑V (2012–2014) Service Manual – Engine Lubrication section and the Honda Electronic Parts Catalogue, confirm that the 2013 Honda CR‑V is fitted with an engine oil pump. Both the 2.4‑litre K‑series and 2.0‑litre R‑series petrol engines use a chain‑driven, gerotor‑style pump mounted in the lower engine assembly, supplying pressurised oil to bearings, camshafts and VTEC/VTC systems.
On this model, the oil pump is the heart of the lubrication system. It draws oil from the sump, pressurises it and sends it through galleries to protect the crankshaft, cams and timing components. That oil flow carries away heat, reduces wear and keeps hydraulic actuators happy. Without a healthy pump and the right oil, the CR‑V’s smooth, quiet character disappears pretty quickly.
The pump itself isn’t a normal service item
